「民营」的公共媒体服务-马来西亚「担保责任有限公司」集资模式刍议

【庄迪澎】有无可能在政府介入市场运作和依赖点击率换算广告收益之外建设第三个选项,创建且维持一个「理想类型」(ideal type)的独立新闻网站,既能体现资金多元化、透明化,以及所有权公共化,又可避免过度商品化和成为点击率诱饵的俘虏,牺牲内容深度。本文旨在提出作者对此问题的初步想法,冀望经由集思广益和后续的深入研拟,探索以「担保责任有限公司」(Company Limited By Guarantee)的模式创建「民营」的公共网媒之可能性。

马来西亚巫华女性候选人媒介分析-以第12 届全国大选为例

【杨丽玲】本研究从媒体、政党与族群三个角度切入,引用量化内容分析法与质化文本分析方法,去了解不同语言媒体建构不同政党与族群女性候选人形象特质为何?研究结果显示,在媒体的比较上,《马来西亚前锋报》由于是马来语文报纸较偏好马来女性候选人新闻,至于中文报《星洲日报》则恰恰相反的偏向华人女性候选人新闻,充分反映族群报纸的特色,即认同与自己相同语言的女性候选人;在政党立场上,《马来西亚前锋报》由于受控于巫统,较偏好报道国阵女性候选人新闻,反观《星洲日报》虽掌握在与国阵拥有良好关系的朋党手中,但是在报道上却偏好民联女性候选人新闻,反映媒体拥有权并非必然影响媒体的党派立场。

呼唤学术精品——马来西亚华文报业研究现状综述

【邵宝辉】本文对已有研究成果从三个方面进行评述,即中国之大马华文报业研究、大马之本土华文报业研究以及英文文献之大马华文报业研究。笔者提出未来研究之建议,鼓励专业视角之专门研究,融合大马内外各方成果,互补互促,以提升研究水准,多出学术成果。

马来西亚华文报纸与族群认同建构--以“华小高职事件”为例

【黄国富】本论文选择1987年发生的“华小高职事件”作为研究个案,并以当地两份较具代表性的华文报纸--《南洋商报》与《星洲日报》做为分析对象,了解华文报纸在这事件中的角色。为了能更深入探讨文字表象背后的深层意涵,本论文采取论述分析做为研究方法,以六个层面对新闻文本进行分析,即“强调同一性”、“呼唤集体记忆”、“存续策略”、“合理化策略”、“排除策略”及“污名化策略”,这六项策略皆有助于建构族群认同。

“跨域中华”的新媒介与现代性:新加坡中文报与社会发展(1881-1911)

【黄国富】十九世纪中期新加坡的“现代化”开始萌芽,且有越来越多“中国人”在这个港市寓居与移动,其市场潜力为商业嗅觉敏锐的西方人察觉,把各种新技术与新产品带到新加坡,并以此为其中一个基地,向逐渐纳入西方资本主义体制的亚洲区域进军与扩散影响力,使得原本存在此区域很长时间的朝贡体系逐渐被取代,也转化出交溷的社会与文化特质,让西方现代性展现出在此地的效果。新加坡的现代性效果是在各种力量相互抗衡、协商与接合下展现,也形成殖民性、本土性与现代性的交溷、协商与辩证,创造出此地的特点,甚至连动影响亚洲部分地区,譬如华人跨域参与中国本土革命与国家建构,展现複杂的远距民族主义,特别是在报纸这项新媒介所形成的场域,各种力量在此相互竞争与抗衡,其塑造的媒体环境让许多华人能以逃脱它的影响。

Ad Baculum, Islamic State and Malaysian Chinese Politics: A Rhetorical Study of Selected Political Advertisements in the Local Chinese Media during the 11th Malaysian General Election Campaign

【媒体与大选文献回顾/Kim-Hui Lim, Wai-Mun Har】This study analyzes the rhetorical strategy of using the emotion of fear as a political tool in the 11th Malaysia General Election campaign. The three-prong objectives of this study are to analyze the main themes and issues used to address this tactic of fear, the general perceptions that non-Moslems in Malaysia have of the concept of Islamic state as a symbol of fear and rhetorical strategies used to provoke this fear. The findings concluded that the National Front party (Barisan National, BN) used the fear factor effectively in its campaign. This situation is further enhanced by the strong control of BN over the Malaysian media in addition to the character of Chinese voters who generally prefer not to leave their current comfort zone and are afraid of an Islamic state.

It examined the coverage of The New Straits Times, The Star and The Sun from 12 to 29 November 1999.

【媒体与大选文献回顾/傅向红】统计结果显示七家报社的一致给予执政党更多曝光机会,不同语文源流的报纸偏颇指数有差异,但同语文源流报社的偏颇指数却非常接近。七家报社一致让执政党有更多曝光机会,或许可以视为马来西亚高压政治结构和诸多限制言论自由之法令的产物,但是不同报社之间的偏颇指数有高低之别,似乎只能从个别报社科层制之松散严密程度及其专业能力来解释,这点有赖未来更多的把关人研究提供详尽有力的解释。

Propagandist for the BN

【媒体与大选文献回顾/Wong Kok Keong】 The main aim is to show how or to what extent the mainstream media were unfair and unbalanced. Points or arguments could be better made with data or evidence systematically gathered. Anecdotal evidence gleaned here and there might be telling but does not reliably yield an overall pattern or picture of a situation. The purpose of this study is to help provide stronger evidence for making arguments and, in turn, raise the level of discourse into a more rational, objective one.
